What are Medicare Advantage PPO Plans?
Medicare Advantage PPO Plans are health insurance plan options that are part of the Medicare program. If you join one of these plans, you get all your Medicare-covered health care through that plan.
In California this plan currently includes prescription drug coverage.
The Medicare Advantage PPO plans allows you to access a larger network of doctors and eliminates the need to see a primary care physician to receive a referral for a specialist.
The Medicare Advantage PPO plans works similar to the private insurance that we are all familiar with. You may need to satisfy a deductible before the Medicare Advantage PPO plan begins to pay their portion of your services. The plans also have out of pocket maximums.
Are prescription drugs covered?
Most of the time prescription drugs are covered in your Medicare Advantage PPO Plan but you should always double check with your plan provider. If you join a PPO plan that dose not cover prescription drugs you cannot join a Medicare (part D) Prescription Drug Plan.
