We discussed some great ideas for New Year resolutions and how to make your list of goals. But how do you keep them?
The first of the year is full of resolutions and motivation for change and improvement in your life. But this often fades in the weeks to follow for an assortment of reasons. Let’s look at some tips to help you stay strong and make it to 2018 with your resolutions and goals met!
Make your goals public.
In the world of social media this is not a hard task to complete. If you make your goals known to those you interact with daily they are more likely to keep you accountable for your actions throughout the year. They will be there to provide you that gentle reminder when you fall short of your goals.
Track your progress as you go.
Use and app, write it down, make a spreadsheet or use them all! Find a strategy that is easy for you to track your progress. This helps you to be motivated to continue or easily see when you have fallen short of your resolution.
Be sure your resolution is attainable.
It is great to have large goals you want to meet by the end of the year. But if you are not realistic about the time and energy you can or will put into them you will just set yourself up for failure. Set smaller goals that will get you there on a steady route.
Set reminders for yourself.
The days/weeks have a tendency of getting away from us. Use the technology available to you and set yourself reminders to do your activity. After a few months the activity will turn into a habit and be set in your routine. Give yourself some help along the way!
Don’t be too hard on yourself.
There will be days you will cheat or forget. It’s ok. The true test will be to dust yourself off and get up to start again the next day.
Happy New Year! Let’s make this one the best and healthiest yet!
